  • Who is Intalere?

    Intalere is a leading national group purchasing organization that offers supply chain solutions to their members.  They collaborate with healthcare organizations, dental, veterinary and research centers to help lower costs and increase revenue.  Intalere does this by creating and delivering unique solutions through a competitive contract portfolio and performance improvement resources.  Helping members with product standardization and financial tools beyond contracting and alliances that help lower costs, raise revenue and champion quality, Intalere enriches healthcare delivery for its members and the communities they serve.  Established in June 1986, Intalere is headquartered in St. Louis, and is owned by two healthcare organizations: Administrative Resources Inc., based in Warrendale, PA and Intermountain Healthcare of Salt Lake City.

  • Who is Health Resource Services (HRS)?

    HRS is a strategic marketing affiliate of Intalere, providing group purchasing and administrative services to Intalere members throughout the United States. A division of Virginia Mason Medical Center, Seattle, WA (www.vmmc.org), HRS is member-driven bringing a unique perspective to group purchasing.

  • Who is Intermountain Healthcare?

    One of Intalere’s owners, Intermountain Healthcare (www.intermountainhealthcare.org) is a Salt Lake City based system of non-profit hospitals, clinics and a health insurance company, SelectHealth. Founded in 1975, their mission is to provide excellent healthcare to residents of the communities they serve, providing care that’s affordable and available to patients in need, regardless of their ability to pay. Intermountain is widely recognized as a pioneer in healthcare quality improvement.  They have eight clinical programs that promote the consistent application of medical best practices and they seek to continuously improve medical outcomes. In the early 1980's Intermountain invited Health Resource Services to collaborate on developing a dynamic group purchasing program which grew to become Intalere.

  • How do HRS & Intalere work together?

    HRS works closely with Intalere contract managers and industry experts, we’re able to develop program content, identify and cultivate competitive contracts and provide key industry information on a regional level.

  • What does HRS do for members?

    Simply put, we save members money on the things they use every day. Through an established supplier network, we offer an extensive portfolio of pre-negotiated contracts on medical equipment and products, office supplies — even consulting services and continuing education.

  • How does the program work?

    With input from members, Intalere negotiates contracts with manufacturers, service providers and distributors. Then, our staff assists members in choosing the right contracts for their needs. In addition to the contracts Intalere offers, HRS has a portfolio of exclusively-negotiated contracts that may help save you even more — including contracts with additional savings for those with a more substatial commitment to a particular vendor.

  • What can I expect from my representative?

    Our representatives are non-commissioned which means their only goal is to help you get the most savings. They’ll help you choose the right contracts and even provide in-person support when needed.

  • How do contracts get loaded?

    After you become a member, just let your representative know which distributors you buy from — and which products you use. We’ll do the rest.

  • What is a mark-up?

    A mark-up is the difference between the cost of a goods and services and its selling price. HRS negotiates the distributor mark-up, however, we encourage all members to be actively engaged in what they are paying for products, including what mark-up they’re paying to their distribution partners.

  • What are the Northwest Councils?

    Based in the Northwest, our members gather to guide contract development and address industry issues. Their goal is to continually review HRS's portfolio of contracts, identifying agreements that can be enhanced on a regional and local level. Councils also provide a venue for continuing education, a forum for education on new and emerging technologies and a stimulating environment for peer networking and sharing best practice information. HRS supports the following member councils:

  • Can I buy products from HRS/Intalere and re-sell the products?

    No. All products purchased from HRS contracts are for your facility’s own use, which means members may not resell contracted products to any other entity or the public.
